Joel was born in Gävle (Sweden) on July 23, 1990. He began playing guitar at the age of 9 and has studied at the Royal collage of Music in Stockholm and the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. He has a Master degree in music from the Royal collage of Music in Stockholm.

He also holds teaching qualifications in both music and Spanish and is fluent in English, Swedish, and Spanish. Joel has taught at the Municipal School of Music and Arts in Köping and at ÖRU the Collage of Music at Örebro University. He has also given lectures and led workshops on improvisation for RUM https://www.rum.se/ and at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm.

Joel has performed with Jazzartists like Krister Andersson, Bernt Rosengren, Johan Hörlén, Georgie Fame, Victor Jones, Kjell Öhman, Håkan Broström, Sylvia Vrethammar, Gus Dahlberg, Carl Winther and alot of hardrock, rock and pop acts/artists like Stefan Nilsson, Jan Johansen, Andreas Kleerup, Markoolio, Hempo Hildén, Magnus Carlsson and so on.
